Art Platform

Suncheon, South Korea, 2016

Competition entry

Just like ART, the platform proposal seeks to promote social interaction and integration, building a new social landscape with culturally coherent fabric.

Suncheon WALL original location crosses the site. Built to define, protect and contain.

However, borders and boundaries throughout history evoke segregation and separation. Therefore, the proposal celebrates the fall of the wall with all its representations, to reflect the “humanities city”.

The design slices through the site, exposing an inhabited WALL under the existing historic trails, giving the illusion of wall continuation under the city, buried through layers of time.

This slice exposes the wall as it crumbles and falls. The collapse of the wall creates physical connection to the water Suncheon bay, allowing layer of nature and people to take over, and bleed into the site.
