A proposal for the Heritage Village
Bahrain 2014- MOC
The design stretches between the fort and the sea. Linking history to the timeless sea (a very important element in the history of Bahrain).
The proposal recreates the village formation; the built-form pattern is taken from the organic growth of a traditional urban fabric.
The buildings appear to emerge from the sea or gradually submerge into sand and water, in a visual illusion that plays on height, obscuring the boundary between sea and land.
As the buildings decrease in height, they change functionality to accommodate more appropriate activities, like children events. The descending village utilizes the traces of roofs, and remaining for doors, windows and street light to become stage, catwalk, urban furniture, ...
